Jesus Was a Liberal

Friday, April 9th, 2010

As a young lad I was told what was bad
And the things that I had wouldn’t save me from sad
And I was told that we’re all gods children
To err was for man but watch your intention
Had Jesus been here he’d only
Help the poor and the sick and the lonely
He would do whatever to decrease
Suff’ring from sick and to halt their decease
He’d heal the blind and the lame would then walk
But we can do the same and instead we just talk
About how its unfair to help those in need
And have the rich pay from their pockets a seed
Of their masses of fortune to pay
For their brethren to live one more day
What I learnt as a child was to help the least
And now you’re corrupted by the beast
Of lust and greed and wouldn’t spare
A pittance of your wealth, show that you care
Its a pity to teach a child
What in manhood you reviled
That god would want us to care for all
A chance we have now, I heard a call
To follow gods plan and help without gall
And give u(.)s(.) the right of life, health care for all.
The fathers of the country have said
But on their words you have tread
In the independence declaration
Life was the first right for gods creation

We were taught as children to care for the least of these, now that we are moving in to do that, you revile and scorn and hiss but would Jesus really want you to fight the help of the poor, the very poor he spent his life serving?  You better be clear, are you a christian republican or a republican who also believes in Christ? If you’re the former then religion comes first and in Jesus’ ministry he called for all to help the poor, the rich and even the least of your brethren… if you’re the latter you believe in republican values and some christian values that also conform to your ideology yet cling to religion though you hang off the edge of hypocrisy over the pit of your sins that you have pushed over the edge of your life that you won’t have to atone for until death. Others will die because of people like you and your selfish hateful ways will disable many from getting the very things that were claimed as rights before this country was founded. Enjoy your hypocrisy and fooling your children into believing things that they’re not supposed to believe in adulthood, helping the poor, using the constitution as a guide, instead follow glen beck and his army of idiots to the end of your meaningless life and die an ignorant bastard for which only the most sincere will mourn because of your wasted tenure on this planet.

Glenn Beck Loses Advertisers

Tuesday, March 30th, 2010

So there have been about 200 companies that have boycotted advertising on Glenn Beck’s show including Apple. I can understand this, Glenn Beck incites hatred by using poor logic and tricking people into using common sense for things that require knowledge and understanding. Some companies may not like to associate their brand to him, and they have every right to spend their money how ever they choose to spend it.

What I don’t understand are the conservatives crying about it. Is not capitalism something that is a core conservative and Republican belief? Is not freedom something they are supposed be fighting for? A company choosing where, how and when their advertisement will be shown based on how much they’re willing to spend is just capitalism in action. So either support capitalism and shut the fuck up about how unfair it is… or revise your stance on capitalism.

I’m fucking sick of this shit. Have some integrity and either be for or against something, but this bullshit of only being for something when benefits you and against it when it doesn’t is just stupid. Just like the free speech “issue” they keep bringing up, they claim they have the right so anything they want under free speech but when someone happens to use the same kind of baseless speculation and questioning against Glenn Beck, he gets all upset and attempts to sue them. Which way do you want it? Free speech only for the people you agree with is not free speech. You either support free speech (including the people who you don’t agree with), or you support controlled speech… of course you could not care either way or not be informed enough to have an opinion but this is for the people that complain.

Anyway, if you want to support boycotting of Glenn Beck advertisements or if you want to support Glenn Beck, here are a few sites to check out:

Fighting Hate, Ignorance and Hipocrisy

Saturday, February 20th, 2010

Hate, ignorance and hypocrisy… I’ll just label this as stupidity.  So how does one fight such a powerful foe? How does one defeat such a resilient enemy? If you don’t think stupidity is a prevalent and dire disaster in a bottle, just try to talk to some people, watch TV and/or listen to the radio. There are people that listen and believe these public personalities just because they’ve been brought up to never question certain things. People will fight you hand, tooth and nail defending the most ridiculous ideas spawned from mere speculation and confirmation bias just because it’s said with confidence.

How does anyone fight confidence? The biggest problem is that these radio personalities are bluffing… bluffing that they know what their talking about, bluffing that the majority of people will call it out and bluffing with a big bank against small fries. Of course they can fail many hands while the greater public goes all in and loses. You want change? You want things to stay the same? You want us all to jump into a time machine to find a long lost past that only truly existed in your diluted memories from infancy? Well it takes more than “I want the country the way it was when I was growing up” and other appeals to emotion. It takes reason well founded on the best evidence available, obtained without a course of action derived before researching.

Of course I’ve said nothing to help this problem. Seeing the world for what it is, throughout all known history… we as a human race have come far, so I have no doubt that we won’t reach the lofty goal of enlightenment, reason and peace one day… I just think we all can speed it up a little. Question authority. That is all it really takes… well that and listening.

Of course merely questioning authority isn’t enough just as that, there are some guidelines. Question all authority, it’s not enough to question the authorities you don’t agree with, the most dangerous authority is the authority you don’t question. Remember authorities should be authorities because they know what they’re talking about. Questioning someone who knows what they’re talking about should never be a problem (unless they have clearly answered the question several times), they should be able to explain it… if they can’t, then they’re not an authority worth shit. Not only should any trustworthy authority be able to explain their reasoning, they should be able to provide examples and in most cases cite research and/or facts that support their conclusions. I’ve seen too many times where some jackass will say they’ve “done the research” but fail to provide any kind of reasonable source for that “research” and more pathetically: fail to provide the points of data that lead them to that conclusion.

You don’t have to be rude, you don’t have to be nice, you don’t have to be neutral… you just have to be there. Don’t try to fight stupidity with fire, fight it with questions. There isn’t a liar around that can clearly explain their reasoning through many questions and there isn’t a question that an authority shouldn’t be able to clearly explain.

Woman Arrested for Pirating… Recording Twilight

Saturday, December 5th, 2009

So some 22 year old woman maliciously recorded 3 minutes of Twilight: New Moon during her sisters birthday party. Apparently the surprise party planned for her sister was just a facade to cover up her real intentions to record the movie and sell it on the street. She had no prior convictions of pirating movies, but that doesn’t disprove her intent…

Seriously though, here are the facts:

  • She was 22 years old
  • This was a surprise party for her sister
  • She was recording her sister’s birthday
  • Approximately three minutes of the film was recorded on the digital camera
  • She was arrested and held for two days
  • She may face three years in prison

Let’s examine this from a few different angles: She is completely innocent and the film getting recorded was not intentional, she decided to record a little bit of the movie and lastly that she intentionally recorded the movie to later sell for cheap on the street.

It is normal for people now days to record things like birthday parties, someone not as paranoid as I wouldn’t think that a little bit of footage of a film getting recorded would be cause for such an extreme punishment. So she likely would not be paying much attention to where the camera was pointed. This shouldn’t result in any kind of punishment at all.

Now, given the same previous situation, but instead she intentionally pointed the camera at the movie to record a little bit of it… maybe her favourite part. Recording three minutes of a 2 hour and ten minute movie is nothing major. Hell it should be covered under fair use of the DMCA. This should not have resulted in any kind of punishment other than maybe taking the recording.

Now let’s say she was intentionally recording the movie and was going to record the whole movie to sell on the streets. There is no evidence of her intent even if it was her intent. In order to prove that someone intends to sell the movie there would need to be DVD copies made, copied to a computer in a distributable format or saying that she will sell it or her selling it. Because there is no reason for anyone to think that she was going to sell it, so this should not have resulted in any kind of punishment.

Now let’s say there is a law that says you can’t record things like movies. What the fuck is wrong with that? Are we going to ban all recording devices like DVRs? No, the consumer has rights as well. This may not always be the case any more, but I still believe that people are innocent until proven guilty, so if there is a law that says you cannot record something because you may pirate it later goes against this ideal. There’s a little thing that I agree with called the Bill of Rights and specifically the fifth amendment where it states that “nor [shall any person] be deprived of life, liberty, or property, without due process of law” which I hope would still apply. Now what was the reason that she was detained? Was she a threat to any one? Was she a flight risk? No and no, so in short, this is unconstitutional and I really hope that the judge of this case just throws it out and the woman sues the fucking shit out of the movie theater company for unreasonable imprisonment.

Fox News: The Grand Speculators

Thursday, October 8th, 2009

It’s not news. Seriously it’s not news. It also shouldn’t be news that fox news has the most incorrect reports known to media… while they spew out things like “liberal media bias.” Don’t believe me? You probably watch fax news. I have stated before I and I will state it again: the authority you don’t question is the most dangerous authority.

Fox News: The Grand Speculators

This story is very interesting… not because Fox News tried to bribe the reporters to keep quiet, but because Fox News won a landmark case that had shown that lying to the public under the guise of unbiased news, is not against the law and that any news organization can lie, distort and just make shit up, all under the guise of honestly informing the public.

That is not the only case of Fox News blatantly deceiving the public, that is just the case that had shown that lying is allowed by the FCC… but saying a few words that some people don’t like is not allowed. Seriously, how fucked up is that?

Now most of Fox News is not news anymore, it’s TV show hosts speculating. Just bare assertions, spewing fallacies as if they are truth. Recently Glenn Beck had shown a video of a kid getting beat to death with a railroad tie, then said that it was the result of money no longer being printed with “In God We Trust” on it, and those damn atheists. Pure speculation, that belongs more to a B horror movie than to a channel that claims to be fair and balanced.

Sean Hannity, Bill O’ Reilly, Rush Limbaugh and many talk radio personalities continue to state that the health care bill has death panels and coverage for illegal immigrants in it, when it has been proven to be factually wrong. No death panels of any conceivable incarnation exists in the health care bill (I have read the whole thing over several times). And if anyone says that an illegal immigrant can be a qualified eligible citizen for the public option, then they are just fucking retarded or deliberately misleading.

No matter how you look at Fox News, they are not news, they are bare assertion fallacies.

It’s So Simple You Fools!

Tuesday, September 1st, 2009

Common sense can be used very effectively with common situations, and with common things. Things a 5 year old can understand can be useful for things that are simple in nature, things that only require a basic understanding. So why do these two seemingly simple terms keep getting so misused in arguments? Yes this is going to be another partially religious post, but honestly, what doesn’t involve religion any more? Or more accurately, what doesn’t religion involve itself into?

“Common Sense” and “So simple a child can understand it” are two of the things dishonest bellenders like Ray Comfort, Kirk Cameron and Kent Hovind use to try and persuade people. The intent is do a kind of “Emperor’s New Clothes” tactic to make people think that because it seems so simple, it must be true and the complex answer must be false. After all we should always be using Occam’s razor to determine the validity of things right?

Let’s go a little out of order here, first Occam’s razor is not a method for determining the truth of a thing, it’s a method for discovering the truth of a thing. Occam’s razor does not make complex solutions false just because they are complex, and doesn’t make simple solutions true just because they are simple. It only means that you should first try the simple solutions first to see if the simple solutions are true or not, not to just assume that the simplest answer is the true answer.

What is common sense? Why is common sense so uncommon? If I stole an apple from a store and that apple cost $0.55, then common sense would tell me that I just saved $0.55. However the result of my theft increased the price of all future apples by $0.01. Now my not so common sense would tell me that if I want to eat apples at a lower price for longer, then stealing an apple would not benefit me at all in the future and I would be losing more money than I would save from stealing one.

Now here is another analogy, lets say that you see some mold on a piece of bread and you are currently ill with Pneumonia. Common sense would tell you that if you ate the moldy bread that you would become more ill. Rational thought and the scientific method would tell you that you could turn that mold into something that would help you fight off your Pneumonia.

The reason for these analogies are to explain that common sense is not always the best tool for determining things.

Now onto the most ridiculous: “so simple a child can understand it.” If you are saying that it must be true because a five year old can understand it, then I have to laugh at you because you are a tool. Does a child’s understanding of how the Internet works match our understanding? No? Well then I guess its not real then, lets get the children to correct our understanding of the Internet. Does a five year old’s understanding of how a camera works match our understanding? No? Well then I guess we better consult some five year old children to tell us how cameras work.

Yes, why don’t we base everything on what a five year old understands, after all it was a five year old that discovered that mold can help cure people and that you can send moving images from one place to another through thin air using radio waves. Come on, seriously think about it before you fall for this dishonest tactic. Do you think we would have computers if we relied only on what five year old children can understand? Do you think you would even have a house? How about farming? How about the internal combustion engine? Would you trust the world to five year old children? No, you wouldn’t no matter what you may be saying right now.

Jasmine Fiore Playboy Pictures Simply Don’t Exist

Friday, August 21st, 2009

C’mon people, you’re smarter than this. Why is it so much cooler to see a nude pic of a dead chick? She dies and then you wanna see her nekkid? what the hell? You necrophiliac freaks! doesn’t it strike you as odd that you want to see someone who was murdered and dumped in a trash bin sans clothes?

First off, don’t let your wife see you searching for playboy models because she’ll get jealous but on top of that don’t go searching for things that don’t exist. It’s like the garden of Eden, it’s simply a fairy tale (or tail in this case). But shouldn’t you be searching for why this poor sexy blond was murdered? I didn’t think her swimsuit pictures were that bad…

But maybe this Ryan Jenkins reality show guy got his manhood challenged by an attractive girl and couldn’t handle that she didn’t want him or something… anyway the fact that he’s not returning calls, he’s possibly on the run to Canada and probably still has her teeth and fingers in the car… what the hell is wrong with whoever did this? teeth and fingers? fucking sick.

The moral of this story, stop looking for nude pics of Jasmine and try to feel sorry for her family.

Poor Richard.
