Do we deserve a McCaining?
Friday, February 8th, 2008In March 1994 an American teenager in Singapore got six stripes with a ratan (a long stick of bamboo that they slap across offenders bare bottoms) for some graffiti, in my opinion the idiot should have learned the laws before committing a crime for which his bottom would be sore for weeks and would leave him scarred for life, hopefully mentally as well as physically to remember that in Singapore, they’ll whip your butt if your parents didn’t do it enough.
So, what have American Grand Old Party (GOP) members done to deserve getting McCained? Well, this presidential election year has given all republican party members a slew of choices, Mike Huckabee the southern baptist minister who is well spoken and in fact possibly too much so that he deters many republicans that don’t like to watch televangelists.
Ron Paul is still another option who has chosen an unconventional method of advertising (or “campaigning”, but it’s the same thing) using movies that you can download off the internet, YouTube movies, and even people waving “Google Ron Paul” signs on the corners of busy streets. Though in my opinion he is kinda odd, he wants to run for the highest government office, and then he wants to minimize government spending ( give the secret service water pistols?) by getting rid of unnecessary government agencies ( hopefully the IRS). He wants to abolish the federal income tax, and is constantly voting against new spending bills. If you’re a freedom is better than security kind of person this would be your candidate, unless you would fall into any category to which people are victoms of biggotry in that case, if any of the alleged “newsletters” were in fact genuine you would not be a fan of Ron Paul.
Fred Thompson was an option until Jan. 22nd, he must not have been a good enough actor. Though Ronald Reagan was a popular actor before he became president, it doesn’t seem that Law and Order carries that much political clout, and I don’t think I even want to watch “Fat man and little boy”( eww ).
And today Mitt Romney (known commonly as “the Mormon Candidate”) dropped out today because he said that his campaigning further would diminish the chances of a republican president which would almost certainly put an (early?) end to the war in Iraq. Some people feel that is was religious bigotry that made him lose momentum in the primaries. He feels that “suspending” his campaign will help McCain start a national campaign (let’s just forget about Mike Huckafly and Shawn Paul.) to secure his presidency. I’ve heard from many republicans that since he’s dropped out their jumping on the Obama bandwagon because they would rather we got Obama’d than McCained.
